my august recap
a review for august
wow august is already over! what a month. Honestly this winter in general has been some of the best few months of my life and august. I’ve noticed myself feeling more present, less anxious and I feel like I’ve accomplished so much in this month. So here is a little august recap to tie everything together 🌱
🎥 Movies I watched
Dead Poets Society- 5 stars on letterboxd. changed my life.
Little Women (2019) - 4 stars on letterboxd. beautiful warm cosy film
The Worst Person in the World - 3 and a half stars on letterboxd. I think my hopes were so high that this film let me down a little bit, I still love it absolutely but not as much as people said I would
rewatched Bridge to Terabithia - 5 star movie. still as magical and devastating as the first time I watched it
Final Destination 3 and 4 - 3 and a half and 2 stars on letterboxd. The third one was amazing, the fourth one was TRASH.
🎵 Songs on Repeat
Seventeen - Sharon Van Etten
David - Lorde (a song that perfectly describes how I felt at 16)
Everybody Scream - Florence and the Machine (I’m so excited for her new album)
House Song - Searows (this song is so sad oh my)
Ballad of Nothing - Elliot Smith
My Vine - Wasia Project (underrated)
📖 Reading
I was in such a reading slump this month. (I blame Uni) I started 10 books and only finished one…
That book was Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Read and I LOVED it. The last few pages had me gripping my seat and the characters I thought were so beautifully crafted (as most of her characters are) She knows how to write women with PASSION.
📰 Some Substack Articles I loved (there were so many)
Go Buy Your Girl A Flower - tai ❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・
Jacqueline Wilson is the reason I am the way I am today - adina ⋆˚꩜。
The Museum of Myself - Sophs Digital Diary
I visited my hometown last week. - The Ruby Edit
📕 More Reading
I have been also reading articles and other pieces in the more political realm such as pieces on ethical consumption and poverty under capitalism. I have also been learning about socialism and Marxism this month which are new concepts for me. I crave these ideas that stretch me and make me rethink the current world I’m moving through.
💌Top 3 Moments of the Month
Boyfriends Surprise Party (organizing it and pulling it off!)
Weekend Getaway with two cats and a dog (I miss having pets in my home)
The Palestine Rally (more than 20000 people)
Can’t wait to see what September has in store for me! 💫Thank you so much for reading this little recap :)
